Are you tired of campus food? Get out and try Perkins Restaurant and Bakery located at 3214 Hamilton Blvd., Allentown, at the corner of Cedar Crest Boulevard and Hamilton Boulevard.
Perkins Restaurant has a variety of food options, from their famous breakfast menu to their late night dinner menu.
Their breakfast menu is perfect for early mornings, brunch, or breakfast dinner. Perkins’ breakfast menu has everything from eggs and omelets to sausage and bacon, pancakes and waffles, eggs benedict and country fried chicken biscuit platter, hot chocolate and coffee.
This restaurant is also convenient for the typical college student. Their hours range from 6 a.m. to 12 a.m. on weekdays and 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. on weekends. This is perfect for the crazy lifestyle of a college student.
My personal favorite at Perkins is the strawberry bliss pancakes. I start off with a cup of hot chocolate while I await this yummy meal.
This platter consists of 5 lightly browned pancakes smothered with strawberries and whipped cream. For this sweet-toothed girl, these pancakes are perfect for anytime of the day.
The service is generally quick and served with a smile.
After I eat about half of my platter I ask for a to-go box and head over to look at the dessert case. I take a peek at the wide vari- ety of cookies, brownies, pies, and cakes, and choose which will suit me for the day. I usually decide on the peanut butter silk pie or a nice warm blueberry muffin.
If you aren’t into breakfast food, Perkins has plenty of other options to choose from including a lunch and dinner menu that has appetizers, burgers and melts, seafood specials, and the classic platters.
My favorite sandwich is the country club melt. This has turkey, bacon, American cheese, and Thousand Island dressing on toasted sourdough bread.
Also, off of their classic platter menu, they have steak, pot roast, and carved turkey with gravy. In addition, you can choose two sides to accompany your meal.
Despite the variety of food choices, Perkins has a very reasonable price range. A party of two can eat for around $15.
If that still sounds a little pricy for the cheap-budgeted college student, look in lo-cal papers or online for coupons, as Perkins is always well equipped with coupons to make your meal even cheaper.
So next time you want something differ- ent then the food in the cafeteria, check out Perkins Restaurant and Bakery and treat yourself to a good meal.
