The fall semester is coming to a close and with that comes the end of fall sports. There were some bleak points and mishaps throughout the sports seasons, but the Cedar Crest athletes have tried their best and proved that hard work can lead to great things. Here are some of this semester’s highlights below.
Tennis: Cedar Crest’s tennis team came out swinging this season, with a 4 game winning streak leading them to a 5th place spot on CSAC Women’s Tennis rankings. Shout out to junior Jamie Wojciechowski for earning CSAC Rookie of the Year and senior Amy Frey for getting a spot on the CSAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
Soccer: The soccer team faced some tough challenges this semester as many of the players received injury after injury during the season. Still, they persevered throughout their season and Coach Sarah Walcott assures us that they will work hard during the off-season. Congrats to junior Kim Barry for being named one of the two October Student-Athletes of the Month.
Field Hockey: The field hockey team survived some difficult losses this semester, ending their season with a win against the Notre Dame Gators. Hats off to Jennifer Harbison, sophomore Emily Rodenberger and grad student Erin Studer for all getting spots on the CSAC end of season field hockey awards.
Cross Country: The Cedar Crest Cross Country team had a fantastic run this season, continuously improving from start to end. Many on the team have continued to best their old records during this semester’s meets, including freshman Ciara Lane, sophomore Kayleigh Keggan and senior Joellyn Colangelo who all set personal and season bests at the CSAC Championships.
Volleyball: The volleyball team did well this year, winning 8 matches, including a three-game streak during the beginning of the semester. A Job well done to junior Jessica Lobien for earning one of the two October Student-Athletes of the Month, finishing October with 90 kills.
