1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1⁄2 teaspoon baking soda
1⁄2 cup white sugar
1⁄2 cup brown sugar
1⁄2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1⁄2 cup unsweetened applesauce
1⁄4 cup (1⁄2 stick) butter, melted
2 teaspoons vanilla
1⁄2 cup chocolate chips
1 cup mini marshmallows
1⁄2 cup chopped nuts, such as almonds, wal- nuts, pecans, or peanuts (optional)
Mix together dry ingredients. Stir in applesauce, egg, butter, and egg.
Line a square baking dish or spray with cooking spray. Bake approximately 30 minutes. Top with chocolate chips, marshmallows, and nuts. To limit browning of marshmallows, loosely cover brownies with aluminum foil. Return to oven for 5-10 minutes, until set.
