Lace up your running shoes, dig out your bathing suits and grease up those bike pedals for some fitness fun!
Continuing with their commit to fit series, Cedar Crest will start their next 5 week program, The Ironman Challenge on March 23.
Participants will be asked to run or walk 26.2 miles, swim 2.4 miles and bike 112 miles. “It’s a cardio trifecta!” said Sarah Wolcott, Assistant Director of Athletics for Wellness and Head Women’s Soccer Coach.
For those who are not capable of doing a certain event, don’t worry, there are alternative exercises that count for each category.
Wolcott is anticipating 60 participants and has extended the registration date through the first week!
“The event is a fun way to get in shape while also offering me a challenge,” sophomore nursing major, Jamie Wojciechowski said about why she chose to participate.
The event is a way to bring fun to a workout and hopefully help participants find a way to include the cardio that they might not like into their routines.
“I’m not, personally, a huge fan of swimming” Wolcott jokingly apologizes to head swim coach, Greg Vossler. “But this event gets me into the pool and I always remember I actually like swimming!” she said.
Every participant will win a prize and be entered to win a Fit Bit!
The challenge will end on April 27.
