App of the Week: Simple Grocery List

By Paula Wesson, Managing Editor

Simple Grocery List, Free, Apple and Android devices
What it is:
Simple Grocery List is just that. You can make a grocery list and check the items off as you put them in your cart or even a to-do list and check them off as you complete them.
Pros:
Unlike other grocery list apps I found, it doesn’t have an extensive list of app permissions. One app I looked at needed access to my GPS, camera, and other things. Another app even wanted permission to send and receive text messages.

To use, simply click on the menu button on your phone, choose from “Add Items,” “Clear All,” or “Clear Checked.” When adding items, you can type them all in at once, separated by commas, and the program will automatically list them separately. Or, you can simply add them individually.
Items will appear on the screen with a check box, which you simply tap to check off.
Because it is simply a list that you type in yourself, you can use it as a to-do list or another form of checklist, not just a grocery list.

Cons:
This app does not prevent your phone from sleeping or locking. So, while shopping, you’ll either need to keep unlocking your phone or you’ll need to change your phone settings.
