SGA Election Results 2015

By: Miranda Alvarez, Staff Writer

Each year the student body is given the option to elect a team of leaders who will represent them as a class and in the Student Government Association (SGA). Nominations, after an extension, were due on Wednesday September 23rd and hours later voting began. Students were able to cast their votes through an online poll. The polling was facilitated through and ended on Friday September 25th at 6 pm.

Results were emailed the following Sunday, September 27th. The freshman class elected their president, vice president, treasurer, and two senators. The class of 2018 chose their president and vice president, while the class of 2017 elected a new senator. Much to the executive board’s excitement, they were also able to fill the position of public relations manager thanks to the recent elections. The newly elected officers are as follows:

Student Government Association
Public Relations Manager: Kit Carbone
Class of 2019 Senator: Kayla Smith
Class of 2019 Senator: Morgan Maddock
Class of 2017 Senator: Kit Carbone

Class of 2019
President: Miranda Alvarez
Vice President: Morgan Maddock
Treasurer: Alexandra Zoda

Class of 2018
President: Nazhae Singleton
Vice President: Diamond Scott

While the above positions are filled many are left vacant. Currently there are available SGA and officer positions for every graduating class. In particular, SGA is in urgent need of senators in order to have a more well rounded student government and a better representation of the student body. So far meetings have been run informally because of the lack of senators to vote on movements. SGA ultimately makes many decisions that affect the entire campus. They are involved with various committees that cover issues such as dining services and information technology. If you yourself are interested or know someone who could fill one of the positions email or attend one of the Student Government Association meetings, which take place on Tuesday evenings beginning at 5:30.
